1) How do you imagine the character distribution will work , or how do you see each of the class having a role to play? Explain. - As discussed in class, the 6 characters with the mental issues are being given to the people most suited in the batch according to the teacher's judgement. The rest of the people will also be given the roles. One of them will be mistress and another will be the wild one. The others will be thoughts of the characters. Each thought and character is equally important and will have almost the same amount of lines . 2) How do you envision the costumes we will use as a cast? Explain your ideas. - In the videos that we saw in class, the people that were being controlled were wearing all white while the people controlling were wearing all black. We could use this as the characters could be in white and the thoughts could be black. This shows that the thoughts are sort of controlling the characters. Drama Assessment - Explorative Strategy Video: In class, we were asked to create a piece that used an explorative strategy. We decided to use two - : Thought tracking : We only used thought tracking for the Maria characters because we wanted to show how the rich 'suffer' and how the poor people of the favelas really do suffer because without connections or family, people don't have anywhere to go. Through thought tracking we were able to emphasize how the favelas are overshadowed by the rich people and how the rich have never known how the poor feel because they are busy worrying about something that is probably a first world problem. For example, not being able to travel with their parents. Meanwhile, the poorer person does not have any parents because they got involved with drug lords which is very common in the favelas. 1) Who was Sandro Rosa? Sandro Rosa do Nascimento was a struggling man who took to crime and one day boarded the public bus 174 on June 12th, 2000, in Jardim Botanico, Rio de Janeiro with the intention of robbing the passengers. The situation escalated fast when the bus driver escaped and the vehicle was blocked by a passing by military police car. TV crews, civillians and more officers flocked to the scene as Sandro Rosa took the passengers hostage. He demanded weapons and a new driver. If his demands weren't sated threatened to kill all of the passengers by 6 PM, he however had no intention of doing so. By 6 he faked shooting one of the passengers Janaina Lopes Neves and unsuccessfully attempted to exit the bus at 7. A police officer opened fire on Sandro who in panic accidentally killed the hostage along with the officer who missed his target. The whole event was aired live through the country. In class, we created a few still images from Rio de Janerio. We wanted to showcase the rich and the poor and how living in favelas can affect your daily life. In this one, three of us are begging and one is selling a stolen phone. This shows the life of people in favelas. Everyone is poor and sad with no money and therefore have to beg to survive. Their lives are affected because they live in a poor environment and therefore have to resort to stealing items and selling them which we have also showcased. I think that this unit will help us have a more realistic take on acting and how we can incorporate it in real life Here, We are on yacht and are living the rich life. I am driving the boat with my chin high and everyone is sightseeing and having fun. I feel that they don't really know what is going on outside of their lavish lifestyle. Actor Training Techniques One the first two weeks, we have been continuously doing actor training techniques. We do these to improve our skills, to trust and get to know our peers & to be comfortable with our characters. I have chosen to describe the trust exercises done for the weeks. We spent one lesson on this and it focused on trying our level best to trust our peers. I think this helps an actor develop because all actors need to be comfortable with their cast-mates and slowly trust them. We could develop this technique further by working with a partner that we haven't already ever worked before and add more obstacles in the challenges. Below shows the 'lean'. Two people rest their hands on each other and try to get their feet as far from the other as possible. It is both unique and helps an actor develop his/her skills
